Welcome to the Bark Bus by Paw Academy

A doggy experience unlike any other

image

You might know us as Paw Academy Pet Care. One of the largest, longest running and most trusted pet care companies in all of Florida. We've been caring for thousands of Central Florida's fur families since 2009 with our In-home and on-resort dog walking and pet sitting services.
Bark Bus is our new, one-of-a-kind mobile doggy daycare experience. We'll pick up your pup and they'll spend the day having a blast on our fully customized doggy bus. We'll make stops at private dog parks, walking trails, and some of our favorite local dog-friendly establishments for a treat or two. Your pup will be safely dropped back off at the end of the day with a smile on their face.

You probably have two big questions

How the Bark does this work?

image

It’s a doggy field trip. Our bus is fully customized from the floorboards up to accommodate pups of all shapes and sizes. We’ll pick your dog up either at your home, resort or at our designated pick-up location. We’ll then emBARK on a pre-planned day of fun. Our schedule alternates each week and includes trips to private dog parks, local walking trails, and some of our favorite dog-friendly establishments like Celebration Brewing Co. and Scoop Ice Cream shop. The bus will always be staffed with Paw Academy team members and pups will be supervised at all times. You can track the live GPS location of the bus at any time, and we’ll also do live video feeds via Facebook during each day. We’ll also send you specific updates & photos of your pup during the day. Your pup will get safely dropped back at your home, resort or at our designated drop off location at the end of the day.

Sounds great, but is it safe?

image

While our goal is to provide a fun experience for your pup, absolutely nothing is more important than the safety of the pets and team members on the bus. The bus has been specifically designed to safely and securely transport dogs of all sizes, and has a dual-AC system to keep everyone cool and comfortable. All dogs must pass a behavioral assessment (or demonstrate an AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate) prior to joining the bus. The bus will always be staffed by a minimum of two highly trained and experienced Paw Academy team members, and the pups will be supervised at all times. The bus goes through a thorough safety check and is stocked with water prior to each trip. We have an extensive protocol and weather contingency process that we take extremely seriously. Leveraging our 17+ years of pet care experience, we have a reliable network of vets, emergency clinics, and experienced pet care team members that are on call and available each day.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if there’s inclement weather?

image

All of our Bark Bus activities are weather-dependent. We will never put your dog or our team members at risk. We’ll operate as normal as long as the weather is safe. In the case of extreme wind, rain, or lighting we'll keep the dogs safely inside the bus until it passes. If trips need to be cut short due to weather, rain checks will be issued.

Where exactly will you be taking my dog?

image

We have a network of private dog park locations that we've pre-vetted and reserved. These are private properties in the area that are fully fenced and secured and allow us to provide our pups with a dog park experience without having to worry about any outside people or dogs. We have access to beautiful walking trails at Lake Louisa State Park and Shingle Creek Regional Park. Plus, we've partnered with Celebration Unleashed dog park, Celebration Brewing Co's outdoor patio, and Celebration's Scoop Ice Cream shop. We'll also be planning more robust excursions (where you can come along with your pup!) to Fort De Soto dog beach, Dino World, and other dog friendly locations across Central Florida.

What happens if the bus breaks down?

image

While every possible precaution is taken, life happens. We have a commercial AAA subscription to enable immediate roadside assistance wherever we are. We also have Paw Academy team members on-call each day with their personal vehicles in case dogs need to be picked up from the bus and brought home.

What happens if my dog gets hurt?

image

The safety of your dog comes before absolutely everything else. But in the case of illness or injury during a Bark Bus trip, we have Paw Academy team members on-call with their personal vehicles to immediately pick up your dog and take them directly to either your vet or a vet / emergency clinic in our local network. You will be notified immediately before any action is taken.

How many dogs are on the bus and how will you manage multiple dogs at one time?

image

The bus is specifically designed and equipped to safely seat up to 15 dogs. There will always be a minimum of two Paw Academy team members on board the Bus. Dogs will always get on and off the bus in an organized and orderly manner. If we’re at an off-leash private dog park, the dogs will be accompanied by our staff at all times. If we’re at an on-leash walking trail, the dogs will be taken for walks in “shifts” to ensure safety.

Who is staffing the bus?

image

Our team of pet-loving professionals will always staff the bus. Our team has a collective 50+ years of experience caring for pets. All of our team members are experienced in interacting, walking, managing, and providing basic training for dogs of all sizes.

What if my dog has special needs, dietary restrictions, etc.?

image

Prior to joining the Bark Bus, we will always do a free meet and greet assessment. During this time, we’ll discuss all of the individual and unique needs of your dog and will document all information in our system. Your dog will never be exposed to any activities, food, etc that do not meet the approval of you as the owner.

Are there live cameras on the bus?

image

We will do live streaming video via Facebook Live during each of our Bark Bus days. You’ll receive the information ahead of time to follow the live stream.

Where is the designated pick up and drop off location?

image

Our designated pick-up / drop-off location is in the parking lot of the Celebration Unleashed Dog Park, directly behind the Celebration Library (305 Campus StKissimmee, FL 34747). If you cannot bring your dog to the designated location, we can pick them up at your home for a small additional cost.

What are the requirements for my dog to participate in the Bark Bus?

image

Your dog will need to pass an initial behavioral assessment, or possess an AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate. You’ll also need to provide documentation of updated vaccination for rabies, distemper / parvovirus and bordatella and for the safety of all pups on board, your dog will need to be spayed or neutered in order to participate.

Will there be feeding on the bus?

image

If your dog would typically have a scheduled feeding during the time that they’re on the bus, we will provide the food that you supply. Dogs will always be fed at a safely separate distance from other dogs. We also may offer “pup cup” ice cream or other treats as part of your dog's day. If you wish for your dog not to partake in this, please let us know ahead of time.

Do I have to purchase a harness?

image

Your dog will need to have a harness in order to ride the bus. The bus is equipped with secure safety belts that are designed to clip to a body harness. If you do not have a harness, please let us know and we may be able to provide a temporary one.

Can I combine a Bus day with regular Paw Academy services?

image

Absolutely! The Bark Bus will operate on the same system as our regular dog walking and pet sitting services. You'll be able to book Bus rides, regular drop-in visits, and overnight stays all in the same place. Please ask us about our multi-service discount as well!
